Biggest Beat at the Rio
Biggest Beat:
While playing poker satellites at Rio for the WSOP®, I had my biggest beat. I just finished bubbling out of a
satellite at 3rd, as the other two, a man and a woman, chopped. One of them, the woman, I saw getting
ready to play another. Being that she was hyper-aggressive and very loose, I quickly got into the same
satellite . Knowing how she played, I figured I could get some easy chips by trapping her. As we chose
cards for seats, I was happy to see that I was just two to her left, giving me great position. Right away,
I saw that she wasn't slowing down her terrible play at all. She raised one from under the gun with ATo,
got reraised all-in and called! She ended up winning and doubling up the very first hand. Not to slow her
at all, she raises again with JdTd directly under the gun! It's folded to me and I have QsQc. I decided that
there's no need to slow play, as she already called an all-in first hand and I shove. Sure enough, she calls
and we table our cards. Dealer deals a flop of QdQhX. I flopped quads! I'm looking again at her cards and noticed
that she did have outs, the Qd is on the flop. Dealer deals the turn: 8d. Oh no, please no.. only one card left,
but don't do it. Dealer deals river: 9d. Dealer looks to me in astonishment, "she got there!" I didn't say a thing.
Just got my stuff and left. Probably the worst part of this is that it was a satellite; at least in a card room, I
would have won the bad beat jackpot!
